A spare monitor,
as an always-on board.
A second screen you already own, a browser in full screen, and nothing else.

Why this one works
The least fussy option. A real browser on a machine that never sleeps, showing one page. No install, no dedicated hardware.
Setting it up
- Open your display link in any browser.
- Full screen it: F11 on Windows and Linux, Control Command F in Safari, or Command Control F in Chrome on a Mac.
- Stop the machine sleeping: Energy Saver on a Mac, or Power & sleep on Windows.
- Zoom the page up (Command or Control, plus +) until it reads from wherever you sit. The layout is fluid, so it reflows rather than clipping.
Leave auto-refresh on so the numbers do not quietly go stale while you are looking straight at them.
Other screens
Every display Dash is set up for, including the Kindle.
